Eugley Park Water Main Replacement
The Town of North Reading with Contractor Commonwealth Construction & Utilities will be starting a water main replacement project on Eugley Park East and Eugley Park West after April 1st 2024. This work will replace the older water mains with new water mains and will provide connections from the new water mains to the properties supplied by Town water. The water main installation will begin on Eugley Park at North Street and continue all the way around back out to North Street. Once the new water mains are in place, they must pass pressure tests and water quality tests before the mains can be activated. Once the mains pass these tests, houses will be connected to the new mains.
What Impact Can I Expect During Construction?
The installation of the water main will involve trenching along Eugley Park East and West to a depth of five feet. The Contractor will be trenching, installing water main, and backfilling the trench as the project proceeds along the length of the roads. The trenches will be backfilled and/or plated with steel plates at the end of each day’s construction.
If you live on these streets or travel in this area, please be aware of that the operators of the heavy equipment are focused on their jobs and may not be aware of you or your vehicle. Please pay attention to road closures, detours and Police Officers directing traffic in the work zones.
There may be periods during the construction when the water service to your home will be temporarily interrupted while connections for the new water mains are being made. The North Reading Water Department and our Contractor will make every attempt to provide advanced notice of any shutdowns, and we will work to minimize the length of any water interruption.
