Round 4 of Microenterprise Grant Application Now Open for North Reading Businesses

A fourth round of grants to microenterprises is now open. In this round, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all funds are used. If you have previously applied and been denied because you did not have all the necessary paperwork, but now have it, please begin a new application. The application link remains the same as for round 3: https://massgcc.submittable.com/submit 

1.)  The start date of a business opening has been extended from Jan. 2019 to Oct. 2019.  The grant is now available to any business that has opened prior to October 1, 2019.  

2.)  Also, as the year goes on and 2020 taxes are done, businesses can use those tax numbers for to meet the Low/Moderate Income requirement. 2019 taxes will still be valid too.

Applications are being accepted for the federally-funded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for microenterprise businesses.  The funding is being utilized to address emergency needs in light of the Coronavirus pandemic. Grants of up to $10,000 for microenterprise businesses (defined as a commercial enterprise that has 5 or fewer employees) are now available.

Please note that business type exclusions to the grant include: Real estate rentals/sales businesses, businesses owned by persons under age 18, businesses that are chains, liquor stores, weapons/firearms dealers, lobbyists or Cannabis-related businesses.  Businesses must be located in one of the 23 participating communities.
