Intersection Projects - Beginning May 2024

NORTH READING INTERSECTION PROJECTS

Intersection 1: North Street at Central Street & Eugley Park West
Intersection 2: Haverhill Street at Chestnut Street to Heritage Way
 

The Department of Public Works is beginning work at the two above mentioned intersections. Unified Contracting Inc., plans to begin the improvements to North Street, Central Street and Eugley Park West in Mid-May (May 20, tentatively). Once this work is complete, the contractor plans to begin improvements on Haverhill Street at Chestnut Street in late-June / early July. General work is outlined below:

North Street at Central Street & Eugley Park West
  • New drainage, sidewalks, granite curbing and accessible ramps
  • Installation of additional traffic signage and speed radar feedback signs
  • Re-alignment of Eugley Park West at North Street tightening the curb radii for traffic calming purposes
  • Selective public shade tree removal. Tree hearing scheduled at Town Hall for Thursday, May 16 at 1PM
Haverhill Street at Chestnut Street
  • New sidewalks, granite curbing and accessible ramps (sidewalk extension to Heritage Way)
  • Re-alignment and full signalization of Haverhill St. & Chestnut St.
  • Selective public shade tree removal. Tree hearing scheduled at Town Hall for Thursday, May 16 at 1PM

Typical work hours will be from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.  Residents must expect delays traveling on these streets. Emergency vehicles and school buses will be allowed passage and police detail officers will be present.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
