Town Hall / Edith O'Leary Senior Center / Flint Memorial Library Telephone System Update

The Town’s Information Technology Department is in the process of updating the telephone system serving Town departments in the Town Hall, Edith O’Leary Senior Center, and Flint Memorial Library.  The Town’s legacy telephone system, a Nortel PBX model with fully metered billing using 15+ year old technology that has been without manufacturer support for a few years, will be replaced with a voice over IP system with flat rate billing effective Friday, September 7th at 8:00 AM.  This project will replace aging, unreliable equipment and create a more flexible and cost efficient phone system which is projected to save the Town approximately $6,000 per year.  While we do not anticipate any telephone outage during business hours, the public’s understanding of any potential inconvenience is appreciated.  Departmental phone numbers will not be changing at this time, although some consolidation may occur in the future.  Non-emergency phone systems in the public safety complex will be addressed at a future point in time, and the improvements will not impact 911.
