What is the deadline to register to vote, Change my name, address or Party Affiliation?

10 days before Election Day; no later than midnight thru the SEC’s website page or 9AM-5PM at the Town Clerk’s Office Saturday, April 27, 2024 for walk-ins.

Will the Town Clerk’s Office be open on Saturday, April 27TH for walk-in voter registrations, address or party changes?  YES; 9AM to 5PM.

Can I Register to Vote, Change my name, address or Party Affiliation at the Town Clerk’s Office?

YES anytime during normal business hours; Monday to Thursday 8AM-4PM & Friday 8AM-1PM. FOR THIS ELECTION NO LATER THAN APRIL 27, 2024

If I choose “All 2024 Elections” on my mail-in ballot application do I need to re-apply for other elections?

No, you’ll automatically receive a mail-in ballot for all elections in the given year.

How do I request an Early/Absentee Vote by Mail ballot?

What is the deadline to APPLY for an EARLY/ABSENTEE Mail-In ballot?

5 business days prior to the election; April 30, 2024 by 5PM.Town Clerk’s Office will remain open until 5PM.

Will there be In-Person Early Voting for this election?

NO; not for the May 7, 2024 TOWN election.

What is the deadline to vote ABSENTEE Over-the-Counter?

12PM on May 6th in the Town Clerk’s Office, 235 North St, North Reading.

Can a ballot be picked up in the Town Clerk’s Office and taken home?

NO by law they must be postmarked and mailed to the voter.

EMERGENCY ABSENTEE BALLOTS:  If you have been admitted to a healthcare facility within 1 week of the election, you may use the absentee ballot application to designate someone of your choice to deliver a ballot to you. The person you designate to deliver your ballot will need to bring the signed application to your local election office, pick up your absentee ballot, bring it to you, and return it for you by the close of polls on Election Day. Emergency ballots may be requested up until the close of polls.

If I’ve submitted my voted ballot but changed my mind can I receive another one?

If I don’t return my Annual Census can I still vote?

Yes, however you will most likely be an “Inactive voter status”, it will take you longer to obtain your ballot.  You’ll be required to provide ID and sign an affirmation before obtaining your ballot. 

How long do I have to return my annual census before I’m made Inactive?

All voters who don't respond to the annual street list by the first Monday in June must be made inactive and sent a confirmation mailing notice.
