The Town of North Reading has been actively planning to construct a municipal wastewater (sewer) system.  This project would allow properties on Main Street and Concord Street as well as portions of Lowell Road, North Street, and Park Street to connect to the wastewater system, as indicated on the map on the bottom of this page.

This project would require approval by the Town’s voters at Town Meeting and potentially at a debt exclusion election as soon as this spring.  Options to finance this project include borrowing, potentially increasing real estate taxes for all property owners, the assessment of privilege (connection) fees, and/or the assessment of betterments to properties along the route.  The Town is also pursuing state and/or federal assistance to pay for this project.

To educate residents, property owners, and business owners in advance of a potential vote, the Town has scheduled a series of Information Sessions at which the project will be reviewed, attendees will be able to ask questions, and attendees will be able to provide feedback.  Information sessions will be conducted on March 8th (in-person), April 5th (virtual) and April 12th (in-person) and details are printed on the other side of this flyer.Proposed Municipal Wastewater In-Town Collection System Map
