Memorial Day Updates

Recognizing Our Veterans

CHANGE OF DATE! On Friday, May 24 at 1pm, the public of all ages is welcome to assist Veterans’ Services staff in placing approx. 1000 flags on the Town Common. Meet by the large tree [changed from May 23 due to inclement weather].

Memorial Day events organized by the North Reading Company of the Minit & Militia & Veterans' Events Committee will take place rain or shine on Monday, May 27 including:

SERVICES AT THE CEMETERIES

  • Riverside Cemetery @ 7am
  • Harmony Vale Cemetery @ 7:45am
  • Ipswich River Park Blue Star Memorial @ 8:30am
  • Park Street Cemetery @ 8:45am 

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

  • Begins on the Common by the Senior Center @ 10am
  • Please bring a chair or blanket

DECORATED BICYCLE CONTEST

  • Judging at the steps of the Senior Center @ 10:45am

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

  • Line up @ 10:45am
  • Parade kicks off from Common @ 11:15am

 

Holiday Closures & Trash Pickup

Non-Emergency services including Town Hall, Edith O'Leary Senior Center, and Flint Memorial Library will be closed Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. 

Curbside collection of trash and recycling will be delayed one day next week due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 27. Residents are reminded that all trash and recycling must be curbside by 6:30 AM on their trash collection day. Click Here to view the full holiday schedule for trash and recycling collection.
