5th Grade Girls Group (grade 5 girls) FREE
Back by popular demand, YS invites all 5th grade girls to participate in a bimonthly group that will meet every other Thursday at 4-5:00p at various locations.  Time will be spent empowering our girls with building self-esteem, leadership skills, teamwork, tolerance, acceptance, and old/new friendships.  This free program begins on October 3rd, 2019 and welcomes rolling enrollment throughout the year.

Best Version of Me Series (all welcome) FREE
Do you ever worry about your future?  Or just feeling stuck in a rut?  Are you preparing for college or a job?  Or know someone that is?  For the first time ever, Youth Services will help you prepare for some of life's most common stresses.  Whether it is making suggestions to tweak your resume or to conduct mock interviews or you simply need an encouraging pep talk...let's make it happen.  The best way to be prepared is to feel prepared. Individual sessions will be scheduled at your convenience including during PowerBlock for high school students.  Don't waste and stress for another second!

EarlyAct Club (grades 3-5) $10/year
EA Club is a bi-monthly leadership and community service club which invites students from all elementary schools in North Reading to participate. Based on a Rotary International model, the projects and meetings focus on the values of gratitude, community, leadership, commitment, and inclusion. Sponsored by North Reading Rotary, the club meets every other Thursday (4:00p-5:00p) at various locations to plan and implement a local or international humanitarian project. This low-cost program has ongoing enrollment beginning on Thursday, October 10th, 2019 and welcomes rolling enrollment throughout the year.

HS PowerBlock Workshop Events (grades 9-12) FREE
YS and the HS Media Specialist Director, Kim Brown, have partnered again to host various PowerBlock events throughout the 2019-20 school year.  The events will range in topics and format, encompassing a very wide range of interests.  A calendar is posted at both Media Center entrances and students will be invited to register at 7:20a daily for all sessions.  The first bundle of workshops will be a Social Justice series.  We will read and discuss, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, followed by the viewing of the movie.  Discussions will be during PowerBlock on October 1st, 15th, 29th & November 12th and the movie will be shown on November 25th and 26th.      

Knitting Club (grade 4 and older) FREE 
The start of every school year brings many exciting new opportunities as well as for many it presents many new trials and tribulations.  Knitting has proven to significantly build self-esteem while also addressing anxiety, depression, focus, anger management, as just a few.  It's also hard to imagine worrying about keeping your kiddos warm in the heat of the lingering summer days...yet the cold is just around the corner...as are the many parents that the struggle of keeping their kiddos warm is their reality. The YS Knitting Club will do what we can to warm the heads and hearts of local 5-18 year olds by participating in Caps for Kids (https://www.capsforkidsbeantown.org/) while also building our own coping and relaxation skills.

Mentoring (Mentees (grades 3-8), Mentors (grades 9-12)) FREE
Mentoring meets every Wednesday at the North Reading Middle/High School Media Center. Mentees are paired with a mentor for a 8-10 week session.  Mentors will support with homework as well as facilitate a social team-based activity. 
Middle School Session: 2:30p-3:45p
Elementary School Session: 3:45p-4:45p
This free program begins October 2nd, 2019.

Middle School Youth Group (grades 6-8) FREE
Youth Group meets every Monday at North Reading Middle School in Room 107 at 2:30pm-4:00pm during the school year.  Time is spent working on homework, enjoying a snack, team-building challenges, social skills, and traditional games.  This free program has rolling drop-in, beginning on Monday, September 23rd, 2019.  Students are not required to attend all sessions.

Middle/High School Pumpkin Festival (grades 6-12) $10pp
What better way to kick off the fall than by carving a pumpkin on your first early release day of the year?!  Festivities will take place at Ipswich River Park at 12:00-2pm on Friday, 10/11/19.  Supplies and snacks will be provided.

MOCK FLL Jr. Robot Challenge Events (ages 7-10yo) $20pp/Event (Hi-Tech Hornets (https://hitechhornets.weebly.com/) will donate $5 to the Department of Youth Services for every participant)
YS and the Hi-Tech Hornets are excited to partner again offering this great program for the first time.  As a result of Bot In A Box being such a popular success during the spring and summer, we are thrilled to introduce this incredible opportunity to our local youth.  The monthly events will take place on October 11th at 1-3p, November 5th at 9:30-11:30a and December 13th at 1-3p in the Activity Room at Flint Memorial Library.  Space is limited to 12 participants per event.
