Fall 2018 Programs

EarlyAct Club (grades 3-5) $10/year
EA Club is a bi-monthly leadership and community service club which invites students from all elementary schools in North Reading to participate. Based on a Rotary International model, the projects and meetings focus on the values of gratitude, community, leadership, commitment, and inclusion. Sponsored by North Reading Rotary, the club meets twice per month (4:00p-5:00p) at various locations to plan and implement a local or international humanitarian project.  This low-cost program has ongoing enrollment with our first meeting on Thursday, October 4th, 2018, in the Activity Room at Flint Memorial Library and welcomes rolling enrollment throughout the school year.

Gaming Nights (all welcome) FREE
Back by popular demand, Youth Services will extend Gaming Nights through the fall.  The fun for all will be offered every other Friday night, starting on 10/12/18, at 6-9p in Room 14 at North Reading Town Hall.  Games will include video as well as traditional board games.  This free program was a huge success during the summer and space is limited so don't waste time and miss out!

High School Youth Group (grades 9-12) FREE
HS youth group meets monthly on the first Thursday evening of the month at 6p (10/4, 11/1 & 12/6). The group discusses teen issues, plans field trips, and helps identify issues facing local youth as well as visits Greater Boston area restaurants.  This free program has rolling drop-in and students are not required to attend all sessions.  There may be a separate cost for special events and/or field trips.

Mentoring (Mentees (grades 3-8), Mentors (grades 9-12)) FREE   
Mentoring meets every Wednesday at the North Reading Middle/High School Media Center. Mentees are paired with a mentor for a 10-week session.  Mentors will support with homework as well as facilitate a social team-based activity.  This free program begins October 3rd, 2018. 
Middle School Session: 2:30p-3:45p
Elementary School Session: 3:45p-4:45p

Middle School Youth Group (grades 6-8) FREE 
Youth Group meets every Monday at North Reading Middle School in Room 107 at 2:30pm-4:00pm during the school year.  Time is spent working on homework, enjoying a snack, team-building challenges, social skills, and traditional games.  This free program has rolling drop-in, beginning on Monday, October 1st, 2018.  Students are not required to attend all sessions.

Middle/High School Pumpkin Festival (grades 6-12) $8.00 per person
What better way to kick off the fall than by carving a pumpkin on your first early release day of the year?!  Festivities will take place at Ipswich River Park at 12:00-2pm on Friday, 10/5/18.  Supplies and snacks will be provided.

Project Based Video Production (grades 6-12) FREE
Youth Services and NORCAM will partner again to offer Video Production for all middle/high schoolers.  The fall session will be project based, with the students creating a PSA (public service announcement) for the North Reading Department of Youth Services.  The students will collaboratively collect and edit all video footage, creating a commercial for the department.  In-studio sessions will be at NORCAM on every other Tuesday (10/16, 10/30 and 11/13) at 3-4:30p.  Additionally, students will have opportunities to collect video footage at YS events and programming.
