As of May 1, 2011, the Town Clerk’s Office will no longer meet the required criteria of the U.S. Department of State to continue as a designated Acceptance Facility for the purpose of processing Passport Applications.  

The Department of State has issued new regulations which prohibit facilities that create, amend or issue birth certificates from qualifying as an Acceptance Facility in the Passport Program unless the duties, materials and personnel of each function are physically segregated.

The Town Clerk’s Office has been very pleased to have had the opportunity to provide this valuable service for the community and the public for many years, however we will be unable to comply with the changes brought about by these new regulations which will prohibit our ability to continue to participate in this vital program.
