Census and Dog Licensing Forms

Census forms are mailed annually in January to all residences.  Changes or additions may be made directly on the form before signing and returning in the pre-addressed envelope included with the mailing.  A dog licensing worksheet is also included with the Census form and may be completed and returned in the same envelope, together with the proper fee and required documentation (rabies certificate and certificate of altering, if applicable).

Response to the Census is required under State Law and is used for a variety of purposes including proof of residency, qualification for various benefits, as well as securing the Town's fair share of State and/or Federal funds or grants which may be available based on population.  It will also ensure that voters maintain an "active"  status  for voting purposes.  Voters who do not return their Census will change to an "Inactive" status and will be required to sign an affidavit prior to voting at elections.

The census form cannot be used to register to vote or make any changes to a voter's registration or status.  A separate affidavit must be completed in the Town Clerk's Office, by mail or through the Secretary of State's On-line Voter Registration portal.
