Residents can dispose of up to two 50 gallon trash bags or trash barrels each week.  Anything more than the two 50 gallon bags or barrels must be placed in "Overflow Trash Bags" that can be purchased at local retail stores. Residents can still dispose of 1 Bulk Item with their weekly trash, excluding Mattresses, Box Springs, Electronics & Appliances.  Disposal of CRT's at no cost and White Goods at a cost of $35 for items containing Freon and $20 for non-Freon items can be scheduled for pick-up by Republic Services by calling (781) 289-0500.

DEP Waste Ban on Mattresses and Textiles

Per a new state rule, as of November 1, 2022, mattresses and textiles must be recycled.  Our town will no longer be accepting mattresses or textiles with the trash.

If you're not sure what to do with your old mattress, there are a few options to consider.

  • You can donate mattresses in good condition (we recommend a quick Google search to find donation sites).
  • You can give mattresses away via local gifting groups like Buy Nothing or Freecycle.
  • If you are buying new, you can check with the retailer to see if they will recycle your old one.
  • You can call a local junk hauler or mattress recycling company to take it away.

Textiles should never go into your household recycling bin.  They also do not belong in the trash, unless they are wet, moldy or contaminated.

Drop off textiles at designated collection bins or donate them to your favorite charity or thrift store.  Donation bins accept the widest range of items; your local thrift store may be more restrictive in what they want.  Some organizations will even pick up from your home.  Go to Beyond the Bin for more information.

To donate your textiles directly to charitable organizations, check out their websites for in-store drop-off opportunities or collection bin locations.
