The North Reading Department of Public Works is scheduled to conduct three water main replacement projects this spring:
- North Street from Main Street to Lowell Road
- North Street from Main Street to Moose Hill Access Road
- Mt. Vernon Street from Haverhill Street to Woodland Drive
There will be significant traffic impacts during these projects. During the first phase of the project, which begins Monday, April 5th, the section of North Street between Main Street and Lowell Road will be open to Town Hall and local (abutter) traffic only. Access to Town Hall will be limited to deliveries, Town employees, use of the outside drop-box, scheduled Parks and Recreation programming, and office appointments scheduled in advance. Other traffic will be detoured around the work area. The initial work on the North Street construction will involve crossing Lowell Road (Route 62) from near Mullin Field to North Street between April 5 and April 7. This work will further limit travel on Lowell Road (Route 62) to one direction at a time. Residents are advised to seek routes that allow them to avoid the work areas.
