Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) Positive Mosquitoes Reported in Essex County (Andover and Boxford Ma) - UPDATED 8/27/2019

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) announced Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) positive mosquitoes have been identified in Essex County communities of Andover and Boxford.  EEE and West Nile Virus (WNV) are viruses carried by mosquitoes that can be transmitted to humans by a mosquito bite and can result in illnesses ranging from a mild fever to more serious disease like encephalitis or meningitis. To date, there have been NO mosquitos or human cases that have tested positive for of EEE or WNV in the Town of North Reading. Further information may be found on the Health Department web page.
