Mill & Overlay Notice to Residents

The Department of Public Works is planning on beginning work to mill & overlay sections of North Street between Central Street and Stone Cleave Road as well as Chestnut Street from the DPW garage to Haverhill Street and Flint Street to the Lynnfield town line starting Tuesday, April 18th.

The contractor and subcontractor that will be performing the work is D&R Paving of Melrose, MA and Newport Construction of Nashua, NH, respectively.

The work will be done in three phases:

Phase I – April 18-21 (Tues-Fri) – Newport Construction will mill the above mentioned streets. A milling machine will grind the existing road surface, this will leave the road grooved and uneven for a period of approximately two weeks, please drive with caution.

Phase II – May 1-5 (Mon-Fri) – D&R Paving will install a new top course of pavement. (Weather dependent)

Phase III – May 8-26 – DPW crews will backfill edges of road if needed and new traffic lines will be painted. (Weather dependent)

Work hours will be from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.  Residents may expect some minor delays traveling on these streets. Emergency vehicles and school buses will be allowed passage and multiple police officers will be present.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
