· Why should I recycle? Money! North Reading pays for every pound of trash. The more you reduce, reuse, and recycle, the less North Reading will spend of your tax dollars to dispose of trash.
· Where can I get a bin? The Town provides one free bin to each residence and to each new homeowner. You can buy additional and replacement ones from the Department of Public Works for $5.00 each. Contact the DPW at 978-664-6060.
· Do I have to use the official recycling bin? No! You can use any re-usable container for your recycling. Just mark it clearly as "Recycling".
· Can I recycle my old telephone books? Yes! Throw them in with your mixed paper recycling.
· Why do I have to cut up my cardboard? It has to fit in the recycling truck.
· Can I recycle pizza boxes? The Town now accepts clean pizza boxes in the recycling.
· Is recycling good for the planet, too? Sure! Recycling saves natural resources, saves energy, reduces emissions, and reduces air and water pollution. Read more at www.massrecycle.org/faqs.html#can.
· I'd love to be a part of the Recycling Committee; how can I join? Contact the Town Administrator’s office at 978-664-6010.
