As of Thursday, July 15, 2010, the outdoor water ban in North Reading remains in effect. Outdoor watering by hand held devices is currently allowed, but other outdoor watering – including automatic sprinkler systems for lawn irrigation – is prohibited. The North Reading Water Department has seen a significant drop in water usage as residents and businesses have complied with the water limitations. The Water Department does wish to thank all who complied with this effort to reduce water demand. The decrease in water demand, aided by recent rainfall, has allowed North Reading’s water storage tanks to refill completely. The Water Department and Department of Public Works will meet with the Board of Selectmen on Monday night to provide an update on the water situation and discuss next steps. |
