What is Micro Surfacing?
Micro Surfacing is a polymer modified cold mix paving system formulated to remedy a broad range of problems on today’s streets, highways and airfields. The new pavement thickness resulting from this process is approximately 3/8”.
Pioneered in country-regionGermany in the early 1970’s Micro Surfacing was introduced in the placecountry-regionUnited States in 1980. Advancements in materials and technology have made it the most cost effective resurfacing material available. It begins with the selection of high quality material -- asphalt, aggregate, emulsifiers, water and additives. These ingredients must pass stringent laboratory tests to conform exactly to the engineered job mix formula and mix design.
Advantages
Life expectancy of seven to ten years.
Environmentally safe. Cold application emits no pollutants.
Applied with continuous load pavers to minimize traffic delays (Often reopened to traffic within one hour).
Eliminates hydroplaning and increases skid resistance -- provides texture correction where surface is too rough or too smooth.
Fills ruts up to 1 1/2 inches -- special applications available for profile correction of uneven and rutted surfaces.
Resistant to Rutting and Shoving.
Can be applied to wide range of temperature and weather conditions – from late Spring thru early Fall.
