SPECIAL ELECTION
U.S. SENATE

In accordance with the requirements of  MGL Chapter 54:140(a), Governor Deval L. Patrick has issued precepts directing that a special election for Senator in Congress be held on January 19, 2010, to fill the vacancy due to the passing of U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy.  

A Special State Primary will also be held on December 8, 2009.


In accordance with this directive, the following election calendar will apply:

* MGL 54:89 provides that when the normal deadline for filing an absentee ballot application falls on a Sunday or a legal holiday (in this case -- M.L. King Day), the deadline goes back to the last previous day on which such office is open.

* * * NOTICE  TO  NORTH  READING  VOTERS * * *

POLLING PLACE CHANGE

At their meeting on June 1, 2009, and in accordance with MGL 54:24, the Board of Selectmen voted to centralize election voting for all four precincts of the Town of North Reading to:
 
ST. THERESA'S CHURCH -- PARISH HALL
 51 WINTER STREET

This change will be effective immediately with the next election
[beginning with the Special Primary on 12/8/2009 and the Special Election on 01/19/2010]
and remains in effect for all future elections

This change will affect voters in Precincts 1 & 2 who previously voted at the High School and Town Hall
Precincts 3 and 4 will continue to vote at St. Theresa's Church Parish Hall

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PRECINCT NUMBERS REMAIN THE SAME
