POLLING PLACE CHANGE
At their meeting on June 1, 2009, and in accordance with MGL 54:24, the Board of Selectmen voted to centralize election voting for all four precincts of the Town of North Reading to: ST. THERESA'S CHURCH -- PARISH HALL 51 WINTER STREET
This change will be effective immediately with the next election [beginning with the Special Primary on 12/8/2009 and the Special Election on 01/19/2010] and remains in effect for all future elections.
This change affects voters in Precincts 1 & 2 who previously voted at the High School and Town Hall Precincts 3 and 4 will continue to vote at St. Theresa's Church Parish Hall
ALL PRECINCT NUMBERS REMAIN THE SAME Election workers and signage will provide direction once inside the Parish Hall
* * * * * * * * * * * The December 8, 2009 Special State Primary occurs on a Holy Day for the Catholic Faith
In order to accommodate parishioners and voters with access to the Church for religious services, as well as the Parish Hall for voting, a traffic-flow and parking-scheme was prepared and presented to the Board of Selectmen.
The following diagram depicts the traffic-flow and parking-scheme for election days when there is also a scheduled Church activity.
Please review the diagram and note the following:
- There is only one entrance and one exit off of Winter Street -- Rte. 62
- The first parking area on the left is for rectory, church staff & visitor parking
- All HP Parking is along the west-side of the Parish Hall
- HP entrance is also along the west-side of the Parish Hall
- The rear parking area is for election workers
- The east-parking area is for both voters and parishioners
--The northeast portion of the east lot is for election parking **The lot will be divided down the middle **Access will be on both sides with "angle-in" parking only --The southeast portion of the east lot is for parishioners accessing the church **This parking area will not be divided **Parking will remain as straight-in "stacked" parking
